No surprise I suppose: In spite of the forecast, it was more S than SW today. I always try to moderate my expectations during that drive down to Taylor, even just one flight should be considered a success. And there were some occasional straight-in cycles! Enough of them that I got three flights on ...

Looks like Bari and I are going to give it a go (assuming the forecast doesn't completely tank overnight).

Anthony is a maybe, given that it's a long darn drive for him. There might be some others, Bari is reaching out. Crossing fingers that the forecast stays solid SW!

Just a heads-up that I'm hearing of at least some interest in a day at Taylor tomorrow, if the winds stay solid SW. Gonna be a hot one if we go though, be prepared! Will post if a consensus firms up, tonight/tomorrow-AM.

Things worked out ok! I arrived earlier than planned, about 2pm. Set up streamers top and bottom and conditions seemed really good. Texted Anthony that the winds looked unexpectedly sweet. And then.... Yeah, it pretty much ramped up from there. :roll: I purposely did not check KHGR because I knew it...

Looks like there's some potential for a couple of decent hours at SBurg today : I'm aiming to be there around 3-ish, and Anthony is in for 4-ish. Maybe the winds will cooperate....

The forecasts have definitely picked up. Now hoping that conditions by late afternoon will be doable on Saturday, allowing for at least a couple of flights. Totally depends on how quickly things move through... Will post tomorrow when I head out, and if I hear that others are still motivated. Finger...

Sat Nov 10 now looks like the better day. *edit* Sorry, date-challenged.... Saturday is Nov 11 :oops: Agree that the forum might not be the place to plan/organize. However, a single-post "It's A Go" (or the opposite) would be great. At least we would know whether launch help was needed.......

This past Sunday was actually soarable at High Rock. So it was a bit frustrating to show up, only to find that no flying/video was taking place.

Completely understand how complicated it is to arrange something like this...But a little more info/comms from the organizers would be helpful!

Maybe they plan to get some wider-area footage today, that can set the stage for the drone footage later?

I suppose I could be tempted to wander up that way. Not sure about the flight prospects though, looks very strong and W-cross.

Course, just a forecast....

Seems like there's a chance of a late-day NW swing in the 3k forecast out at Woodstock tomorrow.... And there could also be a mostly SW day at Taylor, if you believe the the sfc hourly.... Anyone thinking of giving either site a go?

Well.... It was more N than the optimistic sfc forecast predicted. But can't say I was really surprised, definitely a gamble. By mid-afternoon, the NWS hourly sfc 'cast is calling for nearly NW. I think it's worth the gamble to head up to SBurg for a look. Hopefully we won't see a hard-N all day.... Anthony seems interested, and so does Charlie.

If the winds back down in the afternoon and there are signs of NW/NNW, it might be an ok day at the hill. Any interest out there?
